 Prayers For Our Children

Prayers for our children are the life blood of their protection.  We can only be with our little ones some of the time.  As they grow and become more independent, we will be with them less and less.  Our prayers ensure that we communicate to God how important he is in our eyes and allows us to ask for our children's protection.  No prayer ever goes unanswered. Take the time to prayer for your child each day that he or she may come closer to God and enjoy the protection of the greatest of the protectors.

Teach them to be thankful!

Christian Prayers

Prayer I

Dear Father, I pray that you will shower your infinite love and protection on my most cherished children.  I pray that you will comfort child-victims of the misguided and wicked.  I pray that you will provide guidance and wisdom to me as parent and guardian of the most precious gift of life in my little one.

Father,in your most infinite mercy, I ask that you touch the hearts of those that would crush the life from all little ones through abuse. I ask that you would reveal in a particular way, the error of their ways to them and reform their darkened hearts.

Father, reveal your infinite goodness and love to all children that that they may be an inspiration to those of us grown into adulthood.

Most Holy Father, shower your infinite love on all of us and guide us each day in our thoughts and actions to be perfect guides for our children

We pray these prayers in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen

Prayer II

I lift my child up to You and ask that You would put a hedge of protection around her (him). Protect her (his) spirit, body, mind,
and emotions from any kind of evil or harm. I pray specifically for protection from accidents, disease, injury, or any other physical,
mental, or emotional abuse. I pray that she (he) will make her (his) refuge "in the shadow of Your wings" until these calamities have
passed by" (Psalm 57:I). Hide her (him) from any kind of evil influences that would come against her (him). Keep her (him) safe
from any hidden dangers and let no weapon formed against her (him) be able to prosper. Thank You, Lord, for Your many promises of protection. Help her (him) to walk in Your ways and in obedience to Your will so that she (he) never comes out from under the umbrella of that protection. Keep her (him) safe in all she (he) does and wherever she (he) goes.

In Jesus' name, I pray..Amen

Jewish Prayers

Prayer I

We thank you, O God, for the Children and for what they mean and bring to our lives. For the love we have known, for all the mitzvot they have begun to do.

For pride in our children's Jewish heritage. For faith in their Jewish destiny, we thank you God.

For all the simchas we have enjoyed. For the gift of life itself, we thank you.

At times our gratitude is beyond our ability to put into words.
When we consider our children's growth over the years. Joy wells up from deep within - even to overwhelm us.

Teach us to guide our children especially by our example.

And to you our children, we say:

God who blessed our ancestors, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel and Leah, bless you with good health, a loving spirit, and a searching heart. May you grow to be strong in body and mind, to love what is good and true, may you never ever forget how much we love you.

May your eyes continue to sparkle with the light of Torah.

May the Hebrew names you bear shine on your beautiful faces and bring blessing to your family, to the Jewish People and to all the world.

Amen.

Muslim Prayers

Prayer I

(Real Player Audio)
|Arabic Resitation|

In the name of Allah, the most beneficent, the most merciful, all praises be to Allah (God) the Lord of mankind, Jinn  and all that exists. The most beneficent, the most merciful. The only owner, (and the only ruling judge) of the day of recompense,( i.e. day of resurrection). You alone we worship, you alone we ask for help (for each and every thing). Guide us to the straight way. The way of those on whom you have bestowed your grace. Not the way of those who earned your anger nor of those who went astray.

When do we pray!

There are certain times when our children need our prayers.  Consider the following:

  1. First, when our children leave our care, we should pray with them.  They are confronted with all kinds of dangers when they are away from us and we can send protection with them through our prays.

  2. Second, when our children are asleep, we should pray for them.  Our children's lives are so much more full than ever before.  These little ones need their rest and they need the hand of God on their faces when they sleep.

  3. Third, when our children go to school each day, we should pray for them and their classmates and teachers.  They face so many dangers at school. The interact with everything from gun-wielding students, to drug dealers, to adults that would do them harm.  They face riding in buses without seatbelts, drunk drivers, trains, red-light runners.  Schools in America, contrary to popular opinion are not safe places.

  4. Fourth, we should pray for our children at the table.  It gives great comfort to a child when his or her parents pray for them.  Also, in our society we need to be reminded that not all children in the world eat and drink so well with so little thought of it.

  5. Fifth, we should pray for our children when they are at play. We should pray that our children will develop moral courage and integrity.  This is a part of our American society that has been all but destroyed. We should pray that they develop good social skills and kind hearts towards others.
